MADISON, Wis. – Freshman Lexi Keberle of the Wisconsin women’s tennis team was awarded Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week by the Big Ten for her play this past week [March 12-18].
Competing in the No. 1 slot all season for Badger head coach Kelcy McKenna, Keberle posts an 11-2 record on the spring and a 3-0 mark in conference play.
Two of those three wins came last week against Rutgers, in which she breezed by Mingxiu Du, 6-0, 6-0 and a comeback, three-set victory over Eva Alexandrova of Maryland, 2-6, 6-3, 7-6.
Keberle was ranked as high as No. 98 by the ITA earlier this season and began the dual season ranked at No. 118.
This is the West Bend, Wisconsin native’s first career honor and Wisconsin’s first Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week since Nicky Stracar in 2011.
